Perfect Guacamole

Happy Fourth of July! I hope you all wore your sunscreen, drank lots of water, and stayed safe on this unbelievably hot day. However, even with the heat, the celebrations go on, and what better way to celebrate our freedom than with a big bowl of guacamole?

Unlike air conditioning (which I suddenly hold a much greater appreciation for), I have never taken guacamole for granted. I've always thought of guac as a privilege, and something that I was blessed to get to eat. It's so unfortunate that some people have never tried it before, and unbelievable that anyone dislikes it. I am sharing this recipe- a Cordelli family secret- because everyone deserves to try guacamole, and if you didn't like it before, you need to try ours- it's food fit for a god.

My family has been using and perfecting this recipe for years, so by now it's basically the best guacamole recipe in existence. It's easy to make- I think we have it down to about ten minutes now- and is very forgiving- ours is a little different every time, but always taste just as good. Plus, it's healthy and full of protein. I hope that you find this recipe as perfect as we like to think it is :) And now, low and behold...

Perfect Guacamole:

Ingredients:

  • 4-6 ripe avocadoes
  • 2 roma tomatoes (chopped into small pieces)
  • 1/2 white onion (chopped into small pieces)
  • 1/2 cup sour cream (approx.)
  • 1 packet McCormick Guacamole Seasoning Mix
  • 1 tbsp. Tajin Seasoning

Directions:

  1. Cut open avocadoes, remove pits, and use a spoon to scoop avocadoes out of shells. Use a sharp knife to dice avocadoes.
  2. Dice tomatoes and onion. Dump avocadoes, tomatoes, and onion into medium-sized bowl.
  3. Add in sour cream and both seasonings. Mix until well-incorporated and creamy.
  4. Serve with tortilla chips or pretzels. Enjoy!

Note:

Store in refrigerator in an air-tight container. The top layer of the guacamole may brown and a dark liquid may appear; This does not mean that your guac has gone bad. Simply pour out liquid to your best of your ability and scrape off the top layer of guacamole, then stir. Your guacamole is still safe to eat and will still taste just as good!
